I was hoping to bump into our resident retro-pyro expert but I haven't seen him for a week at least. The thing is I fired a 3" Black Cat Colour Wheel (green snakey one out of the Bag 'o' Wheels) last night and it gave off a rather loud pop (bordering on bang territory) at the end. I didn't think this was usual so wanted some expert advice, but wherefore art thou Anthony? So I bit the bullet and 'tested' another today, which behaved rather differently. It span a few times but never got up to speed (BTW, I bashed both nails in with a half-brick so anyone complaining about wheels not turning needs to man up) Then it started slowing, stopped, flared up - the other side somehow caught so it was firing at two points, then it started spinning again for a few revolutions before flaring up again so the whole thing (including the plastic centre) was aflame. But no pop, no bang, nothing! I know these are a bit old now but I feel like I've hit the mini-wheel jackpot, shame I've only got 4 left. Not sure my bird-table will survive long enough, but I'm going to have fun finding out.
