Despite waterproofing a few of the multiples didn't electronically fire and for safety I could'nt catch them all with the Rothy.

It seemed all who came had the desired shock and awe experience as I was asked to fire a short but intense show.

One scary moment when a RP King exploded in the rack next to me, thankfully full face protection and ear defenders, but I am wearing the cuts and bruises today and my head feels like I was in a SWAT team house assault.

Much to learn for next year, but really happy with the result of my first large display. 6 x Candy Flies at 08:52 my favourite cue of the night.

Enjoy and please all comments welcome to aid my development.

Wow - you certainly achieved the 'intense' requirement!

That sounds scary, a king exploding right next to you!

Very nice display mate, as you know rockets do fail fail to lift every now and then and that's why we have the safety distances and ppe for the firers, that said it's always a bit of a bum cheek moment when they do break on the ground even with full gear on can be a bit scary.

Excellent display Simon, looks like you had fun, & so did your audience
My 4 cue didn't work either last night (bummer) lol
I my self had a special rocket go off at ground level & even wearing full PPE it got me on side of face.
    Once again well done matey

Krony, I have never moved so fast; my fellow firer was in stitches with laughter. The PPE does give you confidence, but you still need to be hyper alert to your surroundings.

Really pleased that the audience were not aware, other than one little girl who came up afterwards and said it was really cool when Gav and I emerged from the thick smoke like the Michelin man in a Minions costume, because she thought we were dead; lol ... think their parents put them up to it!

Big up Portwest, worth every penny:

Hehe, yea as you say, can have all the gear on in the world and still get injuries, just part of the risk really of close quarters hand firing and need to be on your toes from start to finish, glad everyone enjoyed it including yourself :)

I'm always cautious when I light rockets, I spend more time worrying about them leaving the tubes safely and bursting at the peak height. This year I had no problems thank god!
