Today I decided to Nock up a rack.
Was probably the most easy thing iv made as believe it or not the a frame was all ready assembled ;)

I haven't pick my tubes up yet, hopefully picking them up Tuesday
The other candle rack I'm not really happy with. First I spray painted it black and it looks crap now. Secondly the angles aren't perfect. This is too hold 2 THXs. They arnt angled very wide as the garden were using fro BFN isn't very wide. I'll probably remake it any way

If they are wooden lats fastened on then just get some pipe clips for your tubes. They just screw on.

Yes they are and that seems the best idea. Why I haven't thought about this when I work for a manufacturer that makes them it's abit silly haha

yesterday was a little bit constructive, made a nice little candle rack for some shell attack candles. i painted it black and wish i didn't now.

Lovely rack, sir...I hope it gets more use than mine (still a virgin, believe it or not).
Black looks great (when you can see it in daylight lol), you'll find it ok once it's loaded up.

If this were 'over the road' *shush* I'd suggest a foot rest for the tubes ;), but seeing as we're here I'll say slip something under them later, if you're bothered. :D
After cutting the thing in half and turning it into two just-as-excellent racks hehe. :p

'Tis a strange beast, with it's over-sized uprights, wonky angles and mismatched screws, but she's a thing of beauty too.
The Yorkshire in me hopes you saved the cable ties to re-use, the ruthlessly efficient German part hopes you chucked them due to wear and tear.

    I'm torn!

The minute after I'd spent half hour with spray cans I thought s**t going to be hard to find it dark. But like you said be okay once loaded. I don't want to cut it in half I want to fully load it with candles and quick match it all tougher :)

I've heard about having a base on them to stop them shitting there selfs. I'm unsure wether to or not. Give me more advise.

That was exactly same as my rack @danielpyronutter I made for 3 THXs but I burnt it last year after display. I want some thing to keep now for years lol

I guess the thinking is that as the shots fire, an equal but opposite reaction happens at the base of the candle.
Why that's a problem is beyond me...maybe it could sink into soft ground? So what? lol
Don't know what 8shot candles are like inside, but there's a very long bung in the 5shot Cube ones, so I can't see that shifting?

Stuff and nonsense, I say. Sorry I can't be more helpful.:D

Hehe, only joshing - but then you'd have two! That's nearly twice as many! lol

I just put a small cake board under the candles

I've never had candles or candle barrages shift on my candle racks, and I've had nothing beneath the candles but bare earth. I've fastened candles with cable ties at top and bottom, careful to be tight but not over-tight so as not to squeeze any tubes. The Shanghai's I've used go off with an almighty thud, highest travelling cat3 I've seen.
Firework recoil is a funny thing. I was once reading a scientific paper about recoil/impulse from shell mortars, whose purpose was to determine if you could safely fire from a roof, knowing its construction. I'm not sure the tube recoil is anything like what most would expect, watching the contents flare out the barrel.
I just think with cat3 units, they're very light, and the cardboard tube incredibly contains the explosion so that the unit flies out the open end as expected. You'd think from the violent lift that the recoil would pack a punch, but I'm not so sure it does. Idiots and those of other 'cultures' hold roman candles as they fire. I wouldn't want to hold a 3" mine, mind!

You'll be fine without a base underneath. It's more for cakes that you need the board, to stop it breaking the internal fuse when the tubes recoil. As Jinn said, the shots will just recoil against the bung.
Just don't tie the cable ties too tight! :p

I like the rack though, looks neat.

That one looks nice mate, only thing i would do is maybe have another fixing near the bottom latt so they can't twist.

Today I've had a spare hour so a tenner later I've come up with this. All I need is two more tubes so sadly I'll have to buy another two packs of war hawks :( ha. Aslo I'm going to put a chain on legs to secure it. I've got glued the tubes with happy support of good old tie wraps. Well happy with it.
