Does anyone know if there are multiple versions of the Magnum Mega-Mine?

I might be completely stupid but I'm sure the one I have just received is 1. Lighter and 2. has a different description to ones I have fired before.

The description now is "A. Crackling Mine: B: Crackling tail up burst with crackling mine." No mention of dragon eggs? Salutes?

Also, the noise rating is now "medium"? I question whether the salutes have been taken out. :-(

    I notice that this:
    Is very different to this:

I've just checked my ones out and it reads.

Effects: crackle tails to silver strobe breaks and dragon eggs.
    Year of production 2013
    NEC 166g
    Sound factor: MEDIUM

They are a fairly light mine anyway, maybe a third of a reactor mine.
Has yours a manufacture date on it?

I also bought my mines back in august.

    Hope this helps.

    NEC 163g
Effect A: crackling mine B: Crackling tail up burst crackling mine.
    Sound factor: Medium

    No date.

They must be different. Ah well.

Didn't the Sapphire Crown change as well, just as the price increased?

Sorry, Magnum chaps, but this just isn't on!

To be honest i wouldn't be disappointed with either of those!
But if you are expecting salutes.... :(

Btw tech, the manufacture date is on a completely different part of the firework.

I'm looking all over, I cannot see any kind of date at all.
Yep, I bought it only for the salutes. I have plenty of crackling effects already. :-(

    Oh well, stop complaining Jamie!

I never got what anyone saw in Mega Mine. Bugger all in it. There, I've said it.
I have to wonder what is happening right now in terms of a new European market, new standards, new brands to the UK. Did all the European brands try to encroach on the UK market by throwing amazing quality at us last year? If so I missed it! I saw the videos but missed out on that once in a lifetime change. I just know I got lots of brilliant galactic 61 shot cakes!!!! There's no doubt the Sapphire Crowns is not a patch on last year. Sorry, it just isn't. But! It's still brilliant value for money! My opinion? Buy as many Candy Flies as you can. Firework of the year! If you doubled what it does and called it £60, like spread or pulse, you'd all buy it! Wisely!
Next question... what's the 2014 Treasure Chest like?

Just checked my mine after seeing this because i only bought it for the nice loud salute at the end aswell. My one also says dragon eggs on it with the 213 date so am happy with it. The magnum series videos seem to have many different versions of there fireworks which i think is slightly misleading and very poor from them, i always go by galactic videos on all fireworks as i no there true and honest also the best quality videos i have ever seen, obviously put alot of time effort and expence in this department which for me is another reason galactic are well above all other retailers, they certainly no what customers want and this attracts punters in like ourselves. Btw im not after some free fireworks lol, just like to express a big THANKYOU while im at it, you make the whole experience so fun and exciting from looking on the site to buying these lovely things! Sorry for going off topic guys could'nt stop myself

I do too, but on this occasion it looks like the Galactic Video is different.

Any chance of a video of the new mega mines @Mr T ?

The more fascinating thing to me is the description on the Magnum Series website saying it's a 7x30mm instant firing mine effect. Which if it is, means it's not the only device on the market or importer who has created such a thing.
There's little point worrying that such a thing might not be a true 100mm (or whatever) calibre mine, because a mine is an effect not a calibre. But think of the potential...
What's stopping you having a 100 shot very slightly fanned instant firing cake? Or put another way...
Buy our new 12" square mine!!!

Well firstly let me say I picked up a Magnum Mega Mine today and I have to say it felt lighter, but I have not set a new 2014 one off as yet so cant really comment.

The Treasure Chest is now obvioulsy here just in time for the 2014 season and Ive fired one........... But .................. and there is a big But ! ..................... It was a windy night (fired the same night as the Governor Set if youve seen that video ? ) so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt that it simply didnt blow me away like it did in 2013 ! I maybe need to set another one off on a still night ? One thing I would say though is that its a great cake but is it the same as 2013 stock .... mmmmmmmmmmmm ? Im not so sure. This along with the massive price hike from £39.99 to £47.95 does make the whole prospect of a Treasure Chest look a hell of a lot different :(
  18. thetechi

    thetechi Galactic Firework Addict

    It really does :-(

Ah well. You'll be pleased to know, the mega-mine is my only disappointment of 2014 (unless I get any misfires!)
  19. Chris_S

    Chris_S Galactic Firework Addict

You haven't fired it yet! you may find it surprising.

From what I've seen the Firing Sequence for Treasure Chest 2014 has changed.

We fired both Treasure CHest and Mega Mine the other day, both this years stock. THe Treasure chest whilst not being the same as lsat years was still very very impressive. However I can't say the same for the Mega Mine. There were no titanium salutes just a crackle... very very dissapointed with it, and you feel daft after telling customers how loud it is they're going to be dissapointed.

I decided to scrap it from my display completely yesterday.
Very disappointed myself, especially after rushing to get it as soon as it came back in stock.

They've lit the wrong fuse (there are 2) and fired it backwards. It's the same effects reversed, although and perhaps not as impressive finale volley (first bit) and less variation in the crackle sections.

It's a shame Magnum have chose to tone down Mega Mine by removing the two titanium salute flash reports and replacing them with two gold crackling bursts;why promise something exciting first time round then completely change it? I'm confused:( I wonder if the two flash reports contravene the 120dB noise limit for domestic consumer fireworks in the United Kingdom? Hopefully the European Standard will wipe this away...who knows? ;)
